This week Gartner published its Magic Quadrant on Application Delivery Controllers– what many customers call web load balancers. Gartner called out ScaleArc as one of the “Other Players” in this market (we don’t yet sell at the volume needed to be included in the quadrant). Gartner highlighted the value of our database load balancing capabilities in the report.
This report marks the third piece of Gartner research highlighting ScaleArc in the past six months. Gartner detailed how ScaleArc is enabling enterprises to achieve zero downtime for apps in these two other reports:
Gartner Cool Vendor: What makes ScaleArc so cool? Gartner highlighted these capabilities:
- supporting failover that’s transparent to the app
- enabling zero-downtime maintenance
- delivering scale out with no app changes
- handling traffic surges to avoid app errors
The Cool Vendor report also highlighted our tight partnership with Microsoft and noted we help enterprises overcome some of the shortcomings in SQL Server.
Gartner Hype Cycle on IT Service Continuity: In this research, Gartner establishes the SQL load balancing market and makes the case that enterprises should deploy the technology now. Gartner cites four key capabilities such software should support:
- keep database disruptions transparent to the app
- support multiple databases
- run on prem and in the cloud
Gartner names F5, Citrix, Oracle, and ScaleArc as sample vendors – within that list, and the broader set of suppliers, only ScaleArc delivers on all these requirements.
Interestingly, these reports stem from three different research areas inside Gartner – high availability operations, database, and infrastructure. Funny enough – our customers hail from the same three IT areas. Thanks for the shout out, Gartner!
